‘Start Your Own Business’ Workshop

A workshop on “How to Start Your Own Business” will be offered on Friday, May 29th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Vermont Small Business Development Center (VtSBDC). It is scheduled to be held in the second floor conference room at the Addison County Economic Development Corporation (ACEDC) co-located with the VtSBDC offices at 1590 Route 7 South, Suite 8, Middlebury.  

Starting Your Own Business can be challenging...are you ready? This four-hour workshop is conducted by experienced business advisors and designed as a step-by-step guide for the first-time business owner. Your payment to attend the workshop includes a start-up workbook, handouts and access to 20 online courses in money, marketing and management. When you leave, you will be well-informed about the resources available and the steps involved in launching a successful business. Highlights of the workshop:

·         Evaluate whether there is a viable business in your good idea

·         Identify your target customers and explore how to conduct market research

·         Learn how to register your company, apply for tax numbers and protect your brand

·         Prepare to write an effective business plan

·         Find out about financing options and learn what a credible loan package looks like

·         Understand your "next steps"

By the end of this workshop you will be well-informed about the resources available to you and the steps involved in launching a successful business. This seminar is designed for individuals who are thinking about going into business but need assistance with the procedures involved, and government regulations regarding, starting up a business in Vermont.
